Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will not be coming to Moscow for Russia’s 80th Victory Day celebration, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov announced on Wednesday.
He previously said that 29 foreign heads of state had been invited by the Kremlin to attend the May 9 parade in Moscow, including Aliyev.
“We’ve received word that Aliyev won’t be coming, unfortunately. The explanation was that he has to take part in domestic events dedicated to [his father and predecessor] Heydar Aliyev,” Ushakov told journalist Alexander Yunashev.
